Spot the birdy

For those who didn't get out birding today, here's your chance to relive the unadulterated excitement of the pools this evening. You're on the third platform, the dudes have left, you're scanning the gull flock, and... ker-ching,... a little ray of Mediterranean sunshine.

The supporting cast was a few passage waders (1 Grey Plover, 2 Green Sandpipers and 70 Black-tailed Godwits) and our two friends from central Asia or Slimbridge (or whatever cage they crept out of).

Hmmm,... right species, wrong location. Following your directions, I see a Black-headed Gull or a Shelduck. Mind you, following your directions, I also find myself looking for a "Godwit Med Gull", I must keep up with these taxonomic changes, bloody CSNA :-)

Might as well join the DNA geeks,Who will surley soon find that the British breeding Med Gulls are Sub-species due to the fact that eat more junk food (MacD's KFC and the usual kebabs)Where as the Eastern med birds feed exclusivly on Kebabs Which are of far better quality than the Newport type

Directly below the two Shelduck (just right of centre), facing away? Can't see much of the head, but can make out the red legs...
God I'm sad!
